Christmas / New Years Part 1

First of all... I can't believe this year is over!
HOLY MOLY!
Seriously it's 2013?
Ok now that I got that out of the way let me tell you about our holiday!
Braeden has been off work for about 2 weeks now and it's been awesome!
He has to go back to work tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to that AT ALL! : (
 BOOOOOOOOO!
BUT we have made the most out of the time we have had together!
Let me get you caught up on what has been going on since I have been poor at blogging during the holidays (just not enough time with everything else going on)!!

This is what we have been up to:

Lots of just playing at home and spending time together!

Playing in the snow!

We had a family Christmas party with my Dad where we went caroling to an old folks home and Emeri loved it! She sang her little heart out! It was adorable!
(This is her practicing before we left!)

We spent Christmas Eve at Taya's house where we ate until we were sick, watched a Christmas movie (and some Duck Dynasty : ) ), and had a great time hanging out with the gang!
Emeri enjoyed the peppers! : )

Opening Christmas jammies!

Mr. Kyler being adorable!

Then there was Christmas! ...
Christmas started at our house this year! We have always slept over somewhere, but this year we decided it would be fun to do our own thing before we got together with extended family!
We woke Emeri up at 7:30 and the fun began!
We have been trying hard to teach her that Christmas is about Christ and not Santa and presents so leading up to Christmas we talked to her a lot about the fact that the reason we have Christmas is because we are having a party for Jesus' Birthday! Every time we mentioned that it was Jesus' birthday she would start singing Happy Birthday so we decided to start a new tradition this year! The first thing we did when we woke up, before opening any presents, was sing Happy Birthday to Jesus! Emeri got baby Jesus out of our nativity and held him while we all sang Happy Birthday! : )
Not your typical Christmas tradition I suppose, but I think it will help us remember what we are celebrating on Christmas!
(It's also easy for a 2 year old to understand especially right after having a birthday herself!)

Kyler Christmas morning, happy as can be, playing with Daddy before we went and got Emeri up!

Emeri discovering all the cool stuff in her stocking!

Kyler with all the goodies from his stocking!

Emeri got candy canes in her stocking and would not let go of them! The candy canes and the candy kisses she got were her two favorite things! Not her toys or movies her candy! : ) She takes after her father!

Opening gifts!

Emeri loves to draw, paint, color, pretty much anything that has to do with art, so I thought it would be fun to get her an Aqua Doodle so she has endless paper and ink!

 Playing with her new toy!

Helping Kyler open his gifts! She pretty much opened everyone's gifts!

He's a ready for a nap! Can you tell? : )

Our annual family picture in front of a Christmas tree!
Emeir and Kyler crack me up in this picture!

The rest of Christmas was spent with family! We did Christmas with my mom and dad earlier in the month so Christmas day started at Kathy's house with yummy cinnamon rolls and getting spoiled and ended at Brad and Val's where we all got spoiled again and had a super yummy Christmas dinner! It was so nice that we didn't have to go to 4 different houses on Christmas! We are usually running around like crazy trying to get everywhere! I was thankful that my family did all their Christmas celebrating beforehand!

We couldn't have asked for a better Christmas! We are so grateful for all the gifts we received!
Our families definitely like to spoil us and especially love to spoil our kiddos!
(We had to come home and box up a bunch of toys to make room for the new stuff! : ))
Thank you to all our family for making our Christmas so great!
